This week demolition began on the former Golds Gym building. It’s rumored to be a natural foods grocer, but we haven’t discovered the tenant name yet. Chronic Tacos (Jeremy & Michael’s franchise) is under construction further south on McClelland St and the former Zellerbach building is coming down with plans for a mixed use community in full swing. Additionally, Winco grocery store is apparently coming somewhere nearby and Boulder Ventures is actively pursuing approval on a 500 unit apartment project as well.

Plus, Craig Mecham’s buildings on Highland Drive are nearly half demolished and reports that the remaining buildings will be coming down this summertime make room for the new University of Utah medical center.  Change is definitely in the Sugarhood air!!

If you find yourself in the neighborhood to see all the changes, be sure to stop by our offices and say hello!
