At IPG Commercial we have a ritual of starting our team meeting with a “presencing exercise”. This can entail just about darn near anything. We take turns leading the process, so one week it could be as simple as closing your eyes for a moment and imagining your favorite beach, or another time it could be running outside in the freezing cold and doing a few jumping jacks.
The point is to bring our awareness to the business at hand, create a distinct separation from what were focused on previously, and give all of our attention and creativity to the rest of the team in short time we have to all be together in one place.
We have found by doing this we get to know each other, feel more playful, and most importantly we have productive engaged meetings.
