I am shopper by heart and was pretty ecstatic when I heard the news that South Towne Mall was getting a much needed face-lift. The retail property was built in 1986 and was purchased by new owners, Pacific Retail Capital Partners and Silverpeak Real Estate Partners in 2014. The mall is proposed to have $20 million in improvements and enhancements starting in August of this year. Gensler Associates is the architectural design firm in charge of creating the fresh new look for the shops at Southtowne. The design is urban, minimalist yet colorful, and has plenty of entertainment to add such as new restaurants and local retailers. The project is set to complete in the Fall of 2016. This seems like a much needed move to compete with the mostly finished renovations at Fashion Place Mall and the power house outdoor mall at City Creek. I definitely can’t wait to see the design come to life. To read more about the project and check out the drawings, you can visit their website below.
