The Last Look - IPG 2016 Year-End Industrial Review

by

Have you seen our latest market report?  The second half of 2016 far surpassed even our own predictions on how the remainder of the year would play out. Activity remains at an all time high, with net absorption increasing by over 50% vs. 2015.

IPG was please to be on the listing side of a massive 158 acre land sale to UPS for the construction of their Mega West Coast sorting facility. We were also fortunate enough to partner on one of the largest industrial build to suitsEVER completed in the state of Utah for Post Brands new 903,000 square foot distribution center.

The positive attributes of our unique market will continue to drive business and we anticipate 2017 to be near or even exceed 2016 performance levels.

Utah, the Best State for Business

by

> 1-yr. real GDP change: 3.4% (6th highest)
> Avg. salary: $45,204 (18th lowest)
> Adults w/ bachelor’s degree: 31.8% (16th highest)
> Patents issued: 1,404 (23rd highest)
> Working-age population chg. 2010-2020: +20.5% (2nd highest)

Utah is this year’s best state for business. The state’s labor market and regulatory climate are particularly business friendly compared to other states. Utah’s working-age population is projected to grow by more than 20% between 2010 and 2020, far greater than the comparable projected growth nationwide of less than 5%. Businesses are constantly looking for cost-cutting opportunities. Therefore, a state’s regulatory climate, including its tax policy and the power unions have in the state, can be a major factor when a company is considering where to locate and conduct business. Utah is among the top states in the Mercatus Center’s Regulatory Freedom Index, a ranking of state tax policy. Also, just 3.9% of Utah’s workers are union members, the third lowest share of all states. While this is perhaps less friendly to workers, it is a good sign for most businesses.

Jeremy Jensen Chosen as Industrial SIOR of the Year!

by

On Friday, December 2nd, the Utah SIOR Chapter (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors) held our annual awards luncheon at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Winebar to recognize the accomplishments of our SIORS in both Office and Industrial categories.

This year's SIOR of the Year in the Industrial category was our very own Jeremy Jensen!

Our event was fun-filled with distinguished guests and delicious food. We enjoyed presentations from Salt Lake Economic Development and Envision Utah about the Prison Relocation Project and welcomed the opportunity to celebrate our amazing Utah SIORs.
